In her comments this weekend on these posts, Carol introduced me to Sam Keen‘s work, which I’m really compelled by. (Thanks, Carol!)
Sam’s work is about asking mythic questions that can never be given definitive answers. In particular, Carol recommended (and I agree!) "On Loving the Questions" (referring to a wonderful Rilke quote) in "Quotes, Quarks and Fragments".
And from his home page:
Human
life is a journey whose end is not in sight. Searching, longing and
questioning is in our DNA. Who we are and what we will become is
determined by the questions that animate us, and by those we refuse to
ask. Your questions are your quest. As you ask, so shall you be.
Sam reminds us of the importance
of the questions we ask ourselves. That we are creating ourselves and our lives by the questions we ask – and don’t ask… I’ll be thinking about that this week, for sure.
(Side note: In addition to his work as a philosopher, Sam’s also a trapeze artist – I’m sure there’s a whole blog post on connections there!)
And for further thoughts on questioning, see what Jodee has to say
here and what Kirsten says here).
How do your questions frame your quest to make a difference?

Before specializing as a professional coach in 2004, I spent more than a decade in leadership, management and program development for state and local government and non-profit organizations. Now I get to help leaders and teams have more clarity and ability to stand up for what's important in their work and in their organizations. Working with me, leaders and teams find more meaning and purpose, feel happier and more confident, navigate change and conflict, and work together better.
