Lately, a number of gifts have walked into my work life, all part of my agenda to make a difference: an opportunity to partner with a coaching colleague to create our MotherLoss coaching group, a consulting contract on an incredibly exciting topic, partnering with a respected public health leader to bring coaching to our public health colleagues… all with very little effort on my part (or so it seems).
To be honest, these "easy" things aren’t happening randomly or from
"luck". They come from other experiences I’ve had or relationships I’ve cultivated: other
seeds sown recently and long ago.
I’m usually skeptical of things that come easily – too much puritan work ethic in my upbringing, I guess. But slowly, slowly, I’m learning that instead of discarding the things that show up, things that are easy, that I can instead take them in, accept them, welcome them as gifts.
It rubs my hair the wrong way to discard my disbelief in what comes easily, but so many amazing things have been happening lately that I think I need to just be grateful. While there definitely is value in working hard, sometimes it’s OK if things come easily.
What would it mean for you to take the easy route?
